The book presents the presence and engagement of theatrical art in everyday social life. In order to illustrate the constant presence of theater/theatrical activities in the perspective of everyday life, the constitution of theatrical art is presented - in outline - both in the international space and in Poland. The orientation towards the universal presence/availability of theater in every historical era became the impetus to present its role in social practice in the context of social pedagogy. This is an attempt to show the possibilities of including art in the area of pedagogical tasks.
The main goal of the study is to show that the theater "grew out" of specific needs of past generations, being a form of expression, expressing feelings, a means of communication and a form of satisfying many needs. Drawing on the themes of everyday human existence, over time the theater fulfilled more and more social, educational and emotional-aesthetic functions. Performing these functions, it became in subsequent eras an important instrument in social practice: in the processes of education and upbringing, experiencing reality, shaping moral attitudes, the system of values both in the past and at present.
Regardless of the type of theater (classical, alternative or amateur), full involvement in social life, in the construction of positive images and the "correction"/accentuation of negative phenomena in the daily social space is possible. Thus, theatrical art, as well as para-theatrical activities, become a form of prevention and compensation of the social space. The book is addressed to students of pedagogy, sociology, social policy, theater studies, as well as organizations and associations, social and cultural-educational institutions that operate in local environments involved in education and revitalization focused on integrated design and solving social problems.
